Like the veins of the earth, old rivers that flow from the mountains and the new ones formed by rain connect at points and make their way to the sea. Like highways they carry water, life and nutrients to other areas. They bring with them soil, salts, and bits and pieces of everything they pass through. As they make their way to the ocean, they help shape the features of the land. They empty into the sea where exhalations from the sun and action from dry winds take them up in the air. The clouds bring them back to land where they start their journey again, completing their journey of connecting ridges to reefs and leaving behind all their debris in the sea.

Why are we doing this?
Iloilo City is one of the biggest contributors to plastic pollution and it is affecting life in the ocean, livelihood, and general well-being of the residents.
This is due to low public awareness of the interconnectedness of our ecosystems and the environmental cost of anthropogenic wastes.
The project will be implemented in Iloilo City. Iloilo is the economic capital of Panay. It has experienced a surge in development in the past few years. Currently, Iloilo has an estimated population of 478,000.

This digital art-making contest is open to “all interested participants” in sharing or expressing their ideas, points of view, or interpretation of the theme “All Rivers Lead to the SEA”. This is centered on the impact of human-induced wastes on our river and marine ecosystems. The goal is to raise awareness and encourage individuals and businesses to be more mindful of their activities because all our wastes end up in our rivers and oceans.
